Recharge : SunPartner, fabricant d’un film solaire pour écrans, signe un accord avec TCL

It is the ambition of Sunpartner, SMEs based in Aix-en-Provence, who announced (PDF) a new fundraising of€ 2.1 million, thus completing a round table of 4 million initiated in summer 2012. It announced also two agreements of cooperation.

The first agreement is signed with Chinese TCL Communication, seventh World manufacturer of smartphones (marketed under the brand Alcatel Onetouch and TCL) with 2.1% share of world market in 2012, to integrate technology Wysips Crystal (Wysips: "What you see is photovoltaic surface") of Sunpartner in the form of some of its smartphones. The prototypes will be powered light energy.

First licences for smartphones expected early 2014

This partnership will enable TCL to assess technology in technical aspects and marketing, says Sunpartner. The start-up says that it "intends to sign two other agreements" similar in the coming months, and is the signature of the first licences to mid-2014.

The second Sunpartner agreement is concluded with the aerospace supplier Vision Systems, to integrate Wysips Glass in portholes of plane solar protection systems. The development of a first prototype is scheduled for the end of 2013. The announced goal is to design a solution of sunscreen, autonomous from the electrical system of the aircraft, and which would allow term "a local power of smartphones and touch pads of passengers".

To finance its ambitions, Sunpartner just up 2.1 million euros from investment Fund (Crédit Agricole, the photovoltaic company from the East), "family offices" [family wealth management structure, Editor's note], including Jean-Pierre Gloton, co-founder of Gemplus, and historical shareholders. This operation loop around the table total of EUR 4 million, initiated in July 2012 to Starquest Capital, PACA investment, a regional fund managed by Turenne Capital, and GSC Finance.

Still EUR 8 million of upcoming fundraisers announced

Fundraising allows Sunpartner to fund a pilot of industrialization of technology Wysips Crystal line. The first pre-production must be made this summer, for a volume production in the first half of 2014.

In three years, the company has lifted nearly 9.1 million euros. She already announced a further increase in capital of 8 million euros, of which two million by end 2013 and six million to March 2014. She indicates having filed more than 33 patents.

Created five years ago, the company aims communication screens "indoor and nomadic (mobile phones, tablets, lights, sensors, watchmaking, electronic tags, advertising, etc.), transport, intelligent buildings (glazing, facades, etc.) and decentralised energy production". The company currently employs 30 people and wants to double its workforce "in the short term". It is a turnover of EUR 100 million in 2016.
